Thomson Falls (Nyahururu)

Thomson Falls (or Thomson’s Falls; also known as Nyahururu) were discovered by an explorer Joseph Thomson north of the town in 1883 and he named Thomson’s Falls after his father. It’s more commonly known as ‘T-falls’. Thompson’s Falls are probably Kenya’s most impressive waterfall. It’s found in Nyahururu on the Ewaso Narok River on edge of the Aberdares & Lakipia. The falls are 72m high and are at an elevation of 2360m above sea level.A stony path of sorts leads down to the bottom of the ravine. About 2 km from the falls, upstream on the Ewaso Narok River is found one of Kenya’s highest altitude hippo pools in an area of marshy bogland.
