About AfriFacto data

AfriFacto provides African country statistics and indicators to help readers explore, compare and understand data. Figures should be interpreted in the context of their source, definition, unit and observation year.

Coverage

The current data catalogue contains 55 countries or country entries, 9 indicators and 24,508 stored observations. Coverage and available years vary by indicator and country.

Sources

Some core indicators are imported from the World Bank's World Development Indicators. Individual records include source information and source links where available. Consult the source attached to each observation to identify the originating dataset.

How to interpret the data

  • Indicator definition and unit: Use the indicator description and unit to understand what a value measures.
  • Observation year: Countries may have different latest available years. Comparisons should account for these differences.
  • Missing values: An unavailable observation does not mean the value is zero.
  • Revisions: Original data providers may revise historical values. Refer to the linked source for the latest official release.

Verification and limitations

AfriFacto stores source, source URL, methodology, status and update information with observations. These fields help readers assess provenance; they should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every value has been independently audited. Check the original source for authoritative use, and exercise caution when comparing indicators with different definitions, units or years.

Updates and corrections

Data availability and publication dates can differ across indicators. If you identify a suspected error, use the Contact page to provide the affected country, indicator, year and supporting source.
