Floriculture Sector Profile

Floriculture is one of Uganda’s top ten foreign exchange earners contributing close to $30 in export revenue. The investment in the sector stands at $54 million while employing over 6,000 people and it produces 70% roses, 25% chrysanthemum cuttings and 5% potted plants.

Competitive strength in the floriculture sector

Uganda has ideal climatic conditions for flower growth and production. Uganda’s hot humid temperatures around Lake Victoria basin are ideal for the growth of short stem roses, chrysanthemum and potted plants
