The 825 square km forest reserve is located within the boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Importance of the forest<\/strong><br \/>\nIt is the largest Mahogany forest in East Africa with an incredible biodiversity which includes over 24 small mammals, 9 primates, 465 species of trees, 360 species of birds, 289 species of butterflies, 130 species of moths among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourist sites<\/strong><br \/>\nThe tourist sites include Kaniyo Padidi\u00a0 Ecotourism Site and\u00a0\u00a0 Busingiro Ecotourism Site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vegetation<\/strong><br \/>\nThe vegetation of the forest is mainly tropical forest and grassland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danger facing the forest<\/strong><br \/>\nThe continued existence of the forest for enjoyment by future generations is threatened by the high level of illegal pit sawing, illegal hunting and human encroachment on the forest reserve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary Information<\/strong><br \/>\nSize:\u00a0 825Km2<br \/>\nVegetation:\u00a0 forest and Savanna,<br \/>\nAltitude: 700 to 1270m above Sea Level,<br \/>\nCoordinates: 31\u00b0N 35\u00b0 E 1\u00b0S 45\u00b0 N<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Location The forest covers the districts of Hoima , Masindi and Buliisa\u00a0 in Western Uganda and it is about three hours drive from Kampala City .
