{"id":1246,"date":"2013-05-11T17:24:57","date_gmt":"2013-05-11T17:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fortuneofafrica.com\/ug\/facilitation-by-government-in-health-sector-2\/"},"modified":"2013-05-11T17:24:57","modified_gmt":"2013-05-11T17:24:57","slug":"facilitation-by-government-in-health-sector-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/afrifacto.com\/ug\/facilitation-by-government-in-health-sector-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Facilitation by Government in Health Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Uganda (GOU) has done the following to facilitate the Health Sector;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Government through 2012\/2013 budget allocated 761.6 billion shillings to the sector which account to 8% of the total budget.<\/li>\n<li>Funds for rehabilitating Mulago Hospital, the national referral and teaching hospital and Kabale, Hoima and Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospitals have been budgeted for in 2012\/2013 budget<\/li>\n<li>Government has tried to motivate and retain health workers through gradual salary increases and construction of staff houses.<\/li>\n<li>The Government of Uganda with the support from Spanish Government is rehabilitating Kawolo Hospital in Lugazi and Itojo Hospital in Ntungamo<\/li>\n<li>The government is trying to mitigate the effects of HIV\/AIDS by undertaking Prevention strategies such as ABC, Circumcision, and Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission<\/li>\n<li>Improvement in coordination and management of the delivery of Health and Health related services is a key strategic deliverable by the government of Uganda<\/li>\n<li>The provision of health services in Uganda is decentralised to the districts and health sub-districts (HSDs) levels which are playing a key role in the delivery and management of health services at those levels.<\/li>\n<li>Government has focused on expanding its health infrastructure through construction of health facilities in an effort to bring services closer to the people.<\/li>\n<li>Ugandan Government has aimed at creating a strong national policy formulation capacity, facilitating needs assessment and cost-effective in the health sector.<\/li>\n<li>In September 2012, the government committed to invest Shs49.5 billion to recruit additional 6,172 professional health workers for HCIVs\/IIIs and to enhance the wages of each doctor at HCIVs to Shs2.5 million per month<\/li>\n<li>Government\u2019s objective in the next financial year is to address poor child and maternal health, weaknesses in the drug management system, inadequate health infrastructure and personnel constraints<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Uganda (GOU) has done the following to facilitate the Health Sector; Government through 2012\/2013 budget allocated 761.6 billion shillings to the sector which account to 8% of the total budget.
