The economy will move from the current peasant dominated economy to mid and upper income market driven economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0The plans for transforming the economy are as follows;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Revamp and upgrade the railway system to standard guage<\/li>\n<li>Generate 42,000 MW of electricity from all the hydro sources, the petroleum and gas sources, the geothermal sources and nuclear source.<\/li>\n<li>Develop oil and gas resources<\/li>\n<li>Implement the flagship projects of the phosphates in Tororo<\/li>\n<li>Iron ore project in Muko<\/li>\n<li>Modernise agriculture through the use of fertilizers and irrigation<\/li>\n<li>Utilize water transport system<\/li>\n<li>Modernise service sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Financing <a href=\"http:\/\/npa.ug\/uganda-vision-2040\/\">Vision 2040<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The funding for transforming the economy will be mobilised from the following sources;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Private Partnership<\/li>\n<li>Borrowing from markets using long term bonds<\/li>\n<li>Using oil money to transform the country<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Opportunities available to enable Uganda achieve vision 2040<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The achievement of\u00a0 the vision \u00a0depends \u00a0on the country\u2019s capacity to \u00a0strengthen the fundamentals for harnessing the many investment opportunities. The investment opportunities include the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uganda has commercially viable oil and gas deposits in the Albertan Graben<\/li>\n<li>Uganda is endowed with various tourism attractions including diverse nature based resources, heritage, eco tourism, flora fauna and beautiful sceneries.<\/li>\n<li>Uganda has favourable geological environments that host a wide range and variety of minerals which provide an opportunity to develop a strong mining industry.<\/li>\n<li>Uganda has abundant fresh water resources that provide numerous opportunities for fishing activities which can foster socio-economic transformation<\/li>\n<li>There is an opportunity to leap frog in technology and attract labour intensive manufacturing industries which are being relocated from fast emerging economies as a result of rapid wage increases<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for value addition through agro processing are enormous<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for capacity building which is a must in order to manage the economy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/npa.ug\/uganda-vision-2040\/\">Uganda Vision 2040<\/a>\u00a0here<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government of Uganda plans by 2040 to increase the GDP per capita from current level of $506 to $9,500.
